Liz Vennum

Liz Vennum is a partner with Hull & Chandler, P.A. She attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate degree and Wake Forest University Law School.  A dynamic litigator with solid transactional experience, Liz navigates complex, multi-party business contract conflicts, trade secret disputes, restrictive covenant litigation, and similar civil matters in state and federal court on behalf of her clients.  Liz also represents employers in defending against wrongful termination, discrimination, and other related litigation, as well as counseling employers about proactive measures they can take to protect against these types of disputes.

​Because our business clients know Liz has their backs, they know they can reach her when it matters most. Liz often counsels and advises clients through employee terminations, breaches of contract, business breakups, and other types of business conflicts.  We would like to congratulate Liz for being selected for the inclusion on the 2023 and 2024 Super Lawyers list of North Carolina Rising Stars for Business Litigation.  She was also recently recognized as 2024 Business North Carolina "Legal Elite" for Business Law.

 Representative matters:

  • Liz defended an employer and employee being sued by the employee’s former employer for alleged violation of restrictive covenants (non-compete) and alleged misappropriation of trade secrets, assisting the clients in securing a settlement.    
  • Liz defended an individual who was being sued by his former employer for alleged violations of a non-compete and alleged misappropriation of trade secrets.  The case against her client was dismissed.
  • Liz represented a shareholder seeking redress for alleged wrongful corporate conduct. 
  • Liz represented a shareholder seeking to enforce his right to inspect corporate records. 
  • Liz defended the seller of a business who was sued for alleged breach of contract, fraud, and unfair and deceptive trade practices, among other things, by the purchaser of the business and secured a settlement.
  • Liz represented the purchaser of a business suing the seller for violating his non-compete and for breach of contract, among other things, successfully trying the case and obtaining a money judgment and attorney’s fees.   
  • Liz defended the seller of a business being for alleged breach of contract and unfair and deceptive trade practices, among other things, by the purchaser of the business. She secured a settlement for her client.
