Philips CPA Recall and Lawsuits
Philips Respironics is actively recalling certain Ventilators, BiPAP Machines, and CPAP Machines due to potentially serious and deadly health risks. Philips has already recalled millions of CPAP and other sleep apnea machines. The recall was triggered because users were breathing toxic foam caused by a defect with their machines. Ingesting this toxic foam can cause cancer and other major health problems. In addition to multiple types of cancer, many users also reported headaches, upper airway irritations, coughing, chest pressure, sinus infections, asthma, damage to their liver and kidneys, nausea, vomiting, and increased breathing problems.
A class-action lawsuit was filed against Philips in Massachusetts in mid-2021 claiming Philips knew about the toxic foam and the severe health issues it was causing people for years. Despite having knowledge of the health issues, Philips didn’t announce the recall of their machines until June of 2021 right around the time that they were coming out with a newer device. It is our opinion that the delay in recalling the machines not only recklessly endangered millions of users but set up a situation where Philips could actually profit from the defect.
If you are currently using Philips Respironics Ventilators, BiPAP Machines, and CPAP Machines you should immediately discontinue use and contact the company or the FDA to learn if your model is subject to the recall. Furthermore, you might have legal rights if you have any of the following health problems:
